Highlight covers for Instagram

Unlike regular Instagram stories, which will disappear after 24 hours, highlights are saved to your Instagram profile, and they live there until you delete them. They are themed stories you share that you can custon categorise so its easier for your viewer. .
When you create a highlight, you can give them a custom name that will allow you to use up to 15 characters, but you’ll need to make it a little shorter if you want your users to be able to read the whole word on screen. So instead of Website of ‘On the Blog’ Use ‘Blog’

Here are 3 great examples of my favorite instagramers, that do this really well.

Now you’ve seen what can be done, let me show you how you can create your every own.
First of all you will need to create your images. You don’t have to use icons, see above how Nicole Bremner and Cara (The Champagne Diet) have used words.
You can even create these in Instagram by using the ‘Type’ option in stories… like so….

The dimetions for stories are 1080px × 1920px.
Once you are happy with your Instagram story covers you can now add them to your highlights.
Add them all to your story 1 by 1. Go back to your profile and tap your profile avatar to watch your story. When the correct cover image appears, tap the heart icon labeled ‘Highlight’ in the bottom right of your screen and add this to your subject catagory.
You will see an option to edit the cover, change the name of your highlight, or delete highlighted story.

To change the cover, tap Edit Cover and select your new branded image/icon/text. You can drag the image on the screen to reposition it. select Done to save your changes and Tah dah your cover has been saved. Repeat this for each catagory.

Can I ask a tiny favor? Could you please tag me on your Insta cover stories when you’ve implemented them? That would make my day! Here’s my handle: @londonwebgirl . Happy creating.
